Reaching for the stars
Redhouse Lane and Business Stream (a Scottish Water company) were awarded runner-up in the ‘Design Excellence’ category at the Marketing Excellence Awards in Scotland.
Held on Friday 9 May at The Sheraton Grand Hotel & Spa in Edinburgh, the vibrant SWBS identity won a gold star for ‘Internal Marketing’.
Starry-eyed Managing Director of Redhouse Lane's Glasgow office, Steve Mills says: “We’re delighted with the result, SWBS’s re-branding has received positive reactions both internally and externally and it’s fantastic to have this success acknowledged.“
The Marketing Society said the quality of entries for 2008 was of a very high standard and entrants should take great pride in achieving the finals of these prestigious awards.
Redhouse Lane’s identity transformation armed SWBS with a complete new set of communication tools. Retaining a link to its parent company Scottish Water logo ‘ripples’ were developed into a single ‘swoosh’ as a series of bubbles, intended to reflect the organic nature of the company and its product, while creating a bright, slightly surreal graphic.
A new strapline, brand values and innovative e-channels were created featuring the new bubble design with content re-written in a consistent, fresh tone.
Internally, there was an immediate and positive morale boost with 97% understanding and support and a 56% improvement in staff motivation and engagement. Externally, after an initial customer satisfaction survey, Business Stream is successfully building a reputation for professionalism, helpfulness and honesty.
