Telling stories…

How do you turn your corporate strategy into something personal?

With a new mission, ‘Great Art for Everyone’, and a corporate strategy to guide their work for the next three years, Arts Council England wanted to communicate it with their staff using the techniques of storytelling. They asked our team to help.

The key was to encourage Arts Council staff to reflect on their own roles in making the plan a reality.

By interviewing a large number of people across the organisation, we explored their perspectives on the strategy, found out what excited them about it, and collected a host of anecdotes about what they do well.

We then drafted a narrative version of their plan, in four themed chapters, and designed a sequence of four visuals to capture the essence of each one. A ‘plan delivery guide’ gives them tips on how to ‘tell the story’ using the narrative and the visuals, and personalise their conversations.

The result is a corporate strategy delivered in a creative way which engages people and focuses minds on the task ahead.
